About E2SCALA

E2SCALA stands for Earthquake Engineering and Seismology Community Alliance in Latin America and the Caribbean. E2SCALA is a National Science Foundation funded central online repository and virtual collaboration environment for students and early career professionals with interest in reducing seismic risks in the region.

Helping researchers reach their potential

E2SCALA means to “climb” but also “scale” in Spanish and those are key drivers of this program: to help students and early career  professionals reach their highest potential (climb) while building a network that grows with our community’s goals (scale up.) E2SCALA provides global and open access resources, mentorship and collaboration opportunities with peers at academic institutions and the industry.

Integrating Education and Science

We provide a sustainable path for students to learn about earthquake engineering and seismology and play active roles in the reduction of seismic risks in Latin American cities as well as in the Caribbean. We provide a sustainable path for students to learn about earthquake engineering and seismology and play active roles in the reduction of seismic risks in Latin American cities as well as in the Caribbean. Strengthening our workforce and creating spaces for global collaboration will be a game changer as we collectively create pathways to better prepare for, understand and mitigate seismic risks.
