Working together to better understand seismic hazards

The 2010 Port-au-Prince, Haiti and Maule, Chile earthquakes demonstrated how devastating earthquakes can be in Latin America and the Caribbean. The 2020 Puerto Rico sequence, and the 2021 Nippes, Haiti earthquakes provide recent examples of damages in the natural, built, and social environments. The densely populated cities in the region, along with the complex seismicity and geology create a unique incentive to join efforts towards the reduction of seismic risks.
